The second edition of the NIAS Maiya Prodigy Program saw 15 deserving bright students being awarded a one-time scholarship/grant of Rs. 50,000 and a lifelong active Mentorship which would be focussed on improving their study skills, research strategies and career awareness. The award ceremony took place on the 4th of January 2018 at the NIAS auditorium. The event was graced by many great visionaries and academicians like Padmashri Dr. Anant Agarwal (keynote speaker), Dr. Iyengar, Dr. Rama Rao, Late Dr. Baldev Raj, Dr. Anitha Kurup, Dr. Sadananda Maiya, Dr. K R Venugopal to name a few. The awardees were fortunate to have their minds enlightened by some highly motivating orations by the guests and by the end of the day flaunted their awards with pride.

The NIAS-MAIYA Prodigy program's flagship edition due to the collaboration of great researchers and thinkers across the world was commemorated on the 6th of January 2017 wherein 10 bright talents from across Karnataka were awarded the one-time scholarship award of Rs. 50,000 and an opportunity to be mentored for life by the distinguished panel of Mentors. Dr. C N R Rao was the Guest of Honor and along with Dr. Kiran Kumar presented the awards for the selected students. The ceremony also witnessed some great ideas and motivations shared by these great personalities which was heartily welcomed by the audience.
